On 20 June 2014, the Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany Gerd Müller inaugurated the GIZ Office in Chisinau, during the visit conducted in the framework of the Government Negotiations between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Moldova, which are taking place once a year and during which the areas of international assistance and bilateral cooperation are being agreed.

„In 2015, the German Government will provide 15 million for the support of different areas of activity, thus contributing to the development of the Republic of Moldova. In the nearest future, the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and European Union shall be signed, while the support of the German Government is meant to increase the visibility of the country. The opening of the GIZ Office emphasizes the increase of the support and of mechanisms for a modern infrastructure and high-quality services for citizens”, stated the Federal Minister Gerd Müller at the inauguration.

The Minister of Regional Development and Construction, Marcel Răducan, underlined: „The opening of the Office shows the intensity of the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Germany. We are waiting for a more productive collaboration, the trust of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development being a honor for us”.

In Moldova GIZ is working on behalf of the German, Swedish and Romanian Government, as well as the European Union and is implementing projects amounting to up to 23 million Euro.
