On 30 June, in the conference room of Ungheni Rayon Council, with the support of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC), Centre Regional Development Agency (Centre RDA) and the German Development Cooperation through GIZ, was held a Workshop within ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ project and as part of the action plan within ‘Regional planning and programming’. By establishing the working group, it was maintained the continuation of the implementation of the Regional Sector Programme for Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) for Centre Development Region (CDR).

The purpose of the meeting was to present the results achieved during the development of the Feasibility Study based on Ungheni Viable Project Concept, including:
1. Technical section (the existing and proposed situation, investment plan, selecting implementation phase I);
2. Legal and institutional section (legislation, sector policies, institutional framework);
3. Financial section (project financing, tariff accessibility, cost recovery through tariffs, tariff assessment).

Those present at the meeting highly appreciated the activity of the Working Group and said that only through active involvement it will be possible to achieve the RSP’s implementation in the region.

A similar workshop was held on 26 June in Calarasi town and in the near future, there are to be held such workshops in Hincesti and Ialoveni.

We would like to recall that on 11 February 2015, the Inter-ministerial Commission in WSS has selected 5 viable project concepts (VPC) for Ialoveni, Hincesti, Calarasi, Ungheni, Straseni rayons. Thus, in the CDR there were created 5 working groups on the project, one for each of the 5 prioritized projects.
