A delegation of German officials visited yesterday in the afternoon, 18 June, the Regional Development Agency Center. Germans guests initiated the visit in order to become familiar with the implementation of regional development projects in our country, but also to get acquainted with the details of the projects implemented in the DRC with the support of the German Government.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction, Liviu Oboroc, Vice President of the Regional Development Council Center, Vasile Bitca, Director of RDA Center, Tudor Mesina, representatives of the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and specialists from the Regional Development Agency Center.

In his welcome message, the Director of RDA Center, Tudor Mesina expressed his gratitude to the guests and their interest to learn more about the Center region of the country. Here, Tudor Mesina stressed the importance of German investments in implementation of regional development projects in the rayons from the center region of the country in order to reduce regional disparities.

The foreign delegation was interested in the strategic planning process at regional level, but also in the mechanism of implementing large projects and ensuring their sustainability.

Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction, Liviu Oboroc said that the ministry highly appreciates the substantial investments that are granted by the Germans for regional development projects in order to increase the living standards of the population in the Republic of Moldova.

German officials have stressed that at the meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova on 16 June, there were established two priorities that the German investment will go with, one being the regional development.

Today, the Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Gerd Muller, will conduct a working visit to the Republic of Moldova.

Thus, at 18.30, the German delegation will visit the regional hospital in Orhei, which received funding for increasing energy efficiency offered through KfW and GIZ (German Development Cooperation). This project was implemented by the Regional Development Agency Center.

The visit was occasioned by the Moldovan-German government negotiations that take place each year and determine the areas within which external assistance and bilateral cooperation occurs.

We would like to recall that, from 2010 to the present, the Government of Germany through the German Development Cooperation through GIZ has given our country a financial support amounting to about EUR 17 million. The money was offered for water supply and sanitation of the population, waste management and energy efficiency of public buildings.
