Today, 7 May, there was held workshop No II of the Technical Group in the field of local and regional road infrastructure (RLR). These meetings are conducted with the financial support of the European Union, offered within the project ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’, managed by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ. These working meetings also come as part of the work plan of Intervention Area 2 ‘regional planning and programming’.

In order to improve the quality of this document, today’s workshop was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, RDA Center, GIZ, LPAs in the DRC, and road maintenance enterprises in the Region Center.

Workshop No II focused on the presentation of results and conclusions of the workshop No 1, examination of Chapter 1 of RSP on the analysis of the current situation in RLR sector, joint discussions of RLR identification criteria, agreeing on a common approach and practical application of the criteria in a participatory exercise using GIS maps.

The joint meetings are organized for interaction of all parties involved in this process in order to develop a quality document at regional level. Regional Sector Plan should be linked to national road policy, which is promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, by the representative of this State institution who is present at each of the workshops conducted.

At the same time, these sessions are conducted with the support offered by GIZ advisors, who assist local specialists in the development of this strategic document.

The first workshop in this area was held on 6 March. The result of these meetings should be the development of Regional Sectoral Programme in RLR and a portfolio of regional investment projects.
