North Regional Development Agency (North RDA), represented by the Director Ion Bodrug, and Soroca subsidiary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Republic of Moldova, represented by the Director Lilia Catruc, signed a partnership agreement in order to create and develop joint programmes specific to regional development and institutional capacity.

North RDA and Soroca subsidiary of CCI will develop joint projects in which they will advise regional actors – entrepreneurs, local public authorities, business associations, etc. – on the efficiency of public-private partnership. However, the institutions will organize round tables, conferences, forums, trainings, expo-fairs, and other activities for business and civil society.

‘We can not develop the region without developing the small business. Everything that is done by North RDA related to infrastructure segment would be of no use if there were no new job opportunities. I am sure that together with Soroca subsidiary of CCI we will economically invigorate the localities from the north of the country’, says Director of North RDA, Ion Bodrug.

The director of CCI Soroca subsidiary, Lilia Catruc, noted the prospects offered by the partnership agreement: ‘The partnership between Soroca subsidiary of CCI and North RDA will unify the efforts of our institutions in order to promote and support the business environment and socio-economic development in the North region’.

Signing the partnership agreement between North RDA and CCI is part of the activities of the consulting programmes for regional actors (entrepreneurs, LPA, NGO) in the areas of public and private partnerships and public procurement. The activities are supported by the project ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’, component ‘Complementary private sector support ‘with financial support from the European Union.

The activities mentioned aim to strengthen the capacity of SMEs operating in the North Development Region of the Republic of Moldova, through CCI, in direct collaboration with the Organization for Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) and North RDA, in order to enable them to participate in public tendering processes conducted by North RDA for infrastructure projects in water supply and sanitation, solid waste management, energy efficiency in public buildings, as well as regional and local roads. Such activities take place and Centre and South Development Regions.

However, under the partnership agreement signed today in Soroca, the parties will also collaborate in the development of promotional materials on socio-economic potential of North Development Region.

To note that, in 2013, North RDA signed similar agreements with Balti and Edinet subsidiaries of CCI.
