Marcel Raducan, the Minister of Regional Development and Construction met the yesterday’s afternoon, 15 May 2014, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova, Matthias MEYER.

The officials discussed the latest details on the organization of the International Conference ‘Overcoming regional disparities’ which will be held on 21 to 22 May in Chisinau. Marcel Raducan also noted the importance of the event organized with the support of the German Government and the German Development Cooperation through GIZ, where will be discussed the implementation of regional development policies – key factors for success. In order to achieve tangible results, the Minister of Regional Development and Construction emphasized the role of exchange of experience on regional development, including best practices and lessons learned, between the decision makers from our country and EU practitioners.

The parties have also discussed on bilateral negotiations with the German Government that will take place in June this year on the possible expansion of the portfolio of funding for regional development projects. Marcel Răducan thanked the German Government for the support provided for the development of regions of our country, including the financial support provided of about EUR 17 million to improve water and sanitation services, energy efficiency in public buildings, improvement of solid waste management services in localities of RM and technical assistance in this area.

In turn, H.E. Matthias Meyer expressed the willingness of German people to support further regional development and European course of the Republic of Moldova.
