The implementation of the Action Plan of the Regional Sector Programme on Solid Waste Management in Development Region Center continues with Feasibility studies/Environmental Impact Assessment for regional waste management systems in management Zone 2 Calarasi, Nisporeni, Ungheni realized ​​with support of the German Development Cooperation through GIZ, within the project ‘Modernization of local public services’.

Thus, on 1 July 2014, in Ungheni was organized the second meeting of the project’s Working Group, which was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment.

During the meeting there were discussed the activities undertaken in waste management Zone 2 on the current situation regarding data collection related to waste management and site selection options for the location of the regional landfill. At the same time, the workshop’s participants determined the next steps for the period July – December 2014.

The process is fully supported by the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, the Ministry of Environment and is in compliance with the regional policy and environmental protection policy promoted by both institutions nationwide.

We would like to recall that Center Regional Development Agency, with the support of the German Development Cooperation through GIZ, the project ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’, intervention area 2 ‘Regional Planning and Programming’, initiated the implementation of the Regional Sector Programme on Solid Waste Management (RSP SWM), approved by the Regional Development Council Center on 12 February 2014.

For successful implementation of this process it has been established the  Regional Sector Working Group (RSWG), but also the Project’s Working Group (PWG), Waste Management Zone 2 (Calarasi, Nisporeni, Ungheni) in the composition of which could be found representatives of several institutions (rayon councils, rayon residence municipalities, rayon environmental inspections, public health centers). The first meeting of the Project’s Working Group was held on 13 March in Chisinau.
