On 14-17 May 2018, at the Centre for Continuous Education in Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings (CCEEFPB) of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM) a training course on ‘Management of projects in the field of Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings’ was organised. 15 representatives of Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MARDE), Regional Development Agencies (RDAs), Agency for Energy Efficiency (AEE) and local public administrations from the Republic of Moldova took part in the training sessions.

The event was organised with the support of the ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS), implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ. The goal of the course is strengthening knowledge, developing skills to prepare and implement Energy Efficiency (EE) in Public Buildings projects.    

During 4 days, the participants got acquainted with and gained knowledge and best practices on regulatory and institutional aspects in EE, the impact of energy consumption on environment, technical measures to improve energy consumption in buildings, funding sources and instruments for EE projects, stages of developing energy efficiency projects, institutions involved in the implementation of EE projects and ensuring quality and sustainability of the projects.  

Viorica Savin, specialist, North RDA: ‘At North RDA I am in charge of monitoring two energy efficiency projects and the knowledge gained will be useful in my work in this respect’.

Vasile Lupașcu, architect, Cimislia Rayon Council: ‘Energy Efficiency is a new field for me. That is why I found out a lot new information which I will surely apply in my future activity. Energy Efficiency, in particular in public buildings is and should be a priority field for the Republic of Moldova’.

The course has concluded with a study visit to a project implemented by GIZ/MSPL ‘Increasing Energy Efficiency in Orhei Regional Hospital’, where the participants had the possibility to get familiarised with best practices and lessons learned in the implementation of EE in public buildings projects. At the end of the course every participant was handed a participation certificate.
